We want to assure you that our main goal is to make your visit to Costa Blanca, Spain even more exciting, by offering you cars that will put a smile upon your face. 

All the prices you will get are the end prices. No extra costs for any additional/fictional insurances will not be claimed on your arrival.

During the booking process we will make it as clear as possible what is covered and what is not. We will also advise you how to insure the excess payment, so in case of an accident you`ll be able to get the refund.

But after all, we are a car hire company and Terms and Conditions are essential, if we want to run our business properly.

So, here is the only "boring" part of Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca...

General terms and conditions
 

1. Obligations of the contract holder and authorised drivers in relation to the rented vehicle:

The contract holder is directly and jointly responsible for ensuring that the main driver or authorised additional driver comply with the contractual obligations stipulated below while driving the rented vehicle.

Failure to comply with any of the obligations described below may result in the forfeiture of rights of the contract holder and, as a consequence, cancellation of the coverage taken out. In addition, the contract holder will be responsible for paying any damages caused to the rented vehicle and all expenses generated, which can reach the total excess amount.

If Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca considers that any of the following obligations have been violated, it reserves the right to take the relevant legal action, such as taking back the rented vehicle from the driver of the vehicle and/or legally requiring the return of the rented vehicle.

1.1. Obligations of the contract holder and authorised drivers at the time of pickup:

  • The rental invoice will be made in the name of the rental agreement holder and, once the contract has been issued, it will not be possible to modify it. To request an invoice in the name of a company, the client must communicate this fact before entering into the rental agreement.

  • To inspect the vehicle before leaving the parking space and to inform Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca of any discrepancies in relation to the vehicle’s condition described in the section of the contract "Annexe of damage information and verification".  

  • To sign the ‘Pickup’ section of the "Annexe of damage information and verification" of the agreement as proof of acceptance of the condition of the vehicle at the time of pickup.  Signing the rental agreement implies the customer's acceptance of the list of accessories present in the vehicle and of the description of the damages included in the section of the contract "Annexe of damage information and verification".  Any damage that is not indicated in the contract will be considered to be new damage and will be attributable to the contract holder. In the event of breakage, loss or misplacement of the additional accessory or equipment marked as present in the vehicle, the contract holder will be liable for the replacement cost.

1.2. Obligations of the contract holder and authorised driver during the rental period:

To use the vehicle in compliance with the following terms and conditions of use:

  • To notify Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca in the event of any technical failure in the rented vehicle: fluid levels (oil, water), tyre pressure, etc.

  • In the event of an accident, breakdown or engine failure, to follow the procedure established by Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca : 

    • Not to repair the vehicle without the prior consent of Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca.

    • Not to request a breakdown service without the prior consent of Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca.

    • Not to acknowledge or pre-judge responsibility for the incident.

    • Not to abandon the rented vehicle without the necessary means to protect it.

    • To notify Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca within a maximum of 24 hours of any damage (with or without a third party) caused to the rented vehicle.
      Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will assess the situation and determine the most effective solution: the vehicle will be repaired at the location of the incident, or, if it cannot be repaired, a tow truck will be sent to tow the rented vehicle.

    • In addition, only in the event of an accident, the driver must fill in the accident report, submit it to the Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca upon returning the rented vehicle and send a copy of the report to the e-mail address info@coolrentals-costablanca.com. The accident report must indicate the circumstances, place, date and time of the incident, as well as possible witnesses and the full contact details of any involved third parties.

  • In the event of theft or robbery of the rented vehicle, to follow the procedure established by Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca:

    • To immediately notify the relevant authorities and to file a police report and obtain the corresponding signed police report. If this document is not submitted to Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca, the coverage may be rendered void.

    • To notify Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca of the theft or robbery of the rented vehicle within a maximum of 24 hours.

    • To deliver the keys of the rented vehicle to Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca within a maximum of 24 hours. If the contract holder does not deliver the keys, he/she will be responsible for paying Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca the total excess amount of the vehicle. This clause shall only cease to apply if the police report indicates that the keys of the vehicle have been stolen.

  • Respect the road traffic regulations. Road traffic violations constitute an offence, and the driver may incur fines and penalties as provided for in applicable laws. Also, if the driver incurs a road traffic fine during the rental period, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will charge the contract holder for the fine management and administration service for each offence/fine received (See more information in section 4.4).

  • Have sufficient knowledge to properly drive the rented vehicle

1.3. Obligations of the contract holder and authorised drivers when returning the rented vehicle:

  • To return the rented vehicle with its corresponding keys in the same working order and condition as at the time of pickup. If the contract holder returns the rented vehicle in a condition different to that specified by Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca at the time of pickup in the section of the contract “Annexe of damage information and verification”, the contract holder will be responsible for any alterations produced and for any missing documentation or accessories:

    • In the event of a breach or violation of the obligations and terms and conditions established in this rental agreement, the coverage taken out will be rendered void and the contract holder will be responsible for paying any damages caused to the rented vehicle, and all other expenses generated, up to a maximum limit of the total excess amount.

The rental price includes standard cleaning of the rented vehicle. However, if the rented vehicle requires special cleaning, the contract holder will be charged the corresponding fee. Special cleaning constitutes any cleaning that requires more exhaustive action and involves taking the vehicle out of its standard cleaning routine. A special cleaning charge would be applied to the following examples: beach sand, animal hair, crumbs, rubbish left inside the vehicle (cans, bottles, packaging, etc.), upholstery stains, and stickers.

  • To return the rented vehicle within office hours.

To pick up or return the hired vehicle outside the office hours (that is from 22:00 to 08.00), the contract holder will need to pay an additional 40€.

  • To return the vehicle to the agreed place, date and time:​​

    • If the rented vehicle is returned late, the coverage taken out will be rendered void and Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will apply a penalty fee for each day of delay in returning the vehicle. In addition to this fee, the contract holder will also be responsible for paying the daily rental fee (consult the table of fees in section '4. Extras, accessories, charges and coverages’). 

  • To inspect the vehicle before returning the keys and to make sure that no personal belongings have been left inside. Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca is not responsible for the loss of or damage to any personal belongings left inside the vehicle during or after the rental period. The contract holder is solely responsible for his property. 

1.4. Additional obligations of the contract holder and additional drivers:

Violation of any of the obligations described below will result in the loss of rights of the contract holder and, as a consequence, will render the contracted coverage void. In addition, the contract holder will be responsible for paying any damages caused to the rented vehicle and all expenses generated, up to the total excess amount.

  • Not to drive the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance that could affect the ability to drive. Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca accepts no responsibility for any accidents or damages to property caused by the rented vehicle if, at the time, the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance that could affect the ability to drive. The simple fact of driving under the influence of any of the aforementioned substances will be sufficient cause for the contract holder to be held responsible for the damages causes regardless of whether the influence of the aforementioned circumstances has been demonstrated in the damage charges.

  • For the rented vehicle to be driven exclusively by drivers expressly authorised by Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca in the rental agreement. 

  • The vehicle cannot be taken out of mainland Spain. If this obligation is breached, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will apply the corresponding penalty fee, the contracted coverage will be rendered void, and the contract holder will be responsible for all of the expenses generated, including the vehicle repatriation cost.

  • To fill the rented vehicle with the correct type of fuel, which is indicated in the "Vehicle information" section of the contract and also next to the fuel cap cover of the rented vehicle. Using the wrong fuel by mistake will constitute new damage and will be attributable to the contract holder.

  • Not to put water in the fuel tank. The presence of water in the tank will be considered a negligence and will be imputable to the holder of the contract

  • Not to drive on unpaved, unauthorised or restricted roads. 

  • Not to drive with over the legal number of people for the type of rented vehicle. 

  • Not to use the vehicle as a form of public transport for people. 

  • Not to use the rented vehicle for illegal activities.

  • Not to use the rented vehicle to participate in races, competitions, or reliability or speed tests.

  • Not to use the vehicle for commercial purposes, as a courier service, or for the transportation of goods or people.

  • Not to sublease the vehicle.

  • Not to use the vehicle to tow other vehicles.

  • Not to use the vehicle for the transportation of animals.

  • Not to use the vehicle for the transportation of explosives.

  • Not to use the vehicle for the transportation of corrosive substances.

  • Not to smoke inside the rented vehicle. If the vehicle smells of tobacco smoke, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will apply a penalty fee to cover the costs of processing, special cleaning, and vehicle suspension. 

2. Qualification for renting:

2.1. Age requirements 

  • Minimum age 25 years old with a minimum age of driver´s licence of 3 years.

2.2. Required documentation and information

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca does not assume any responsibility for accidents or damages to property caused by the rented vehicle if the contract holder has deliberately provided Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca with incorrect information regarding their identity, home address, or validity of their driving licence.

Driving licences sent by fax or photocopies will not be accepted.

If the contract holder does not provide the documentation and information described below, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca reserves the right to refuse vehicle rental:

2.2.1. Identification document

 

  • The contract holder and all of the drivers included in the contract must present their national identity document, passport, or equivalent document as proof of identity. 

If this document is not expressed in Latin script, it must be accompanied by an official sworn translation. 

2.2.2. Driving licence

All drivers represented in the contract must show a valid European driving licence or one from countries participating in the international conventions, issued at least one year prior to the date of the contract.

If you do not have a driving licence in Roman letters, you must show an international driving licence or show the driving licence along with a sworn translation of it.

Driving licences sent by fax or photocopied will not be accepted, only the original physical driving licence will be accepted.

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca assumes no responsibility for any road traffic fines incurred by the driver due to not having the relevant licence or licences to drive a vehicle in Spain. The driver is responsible for consulting and understanding the current regulations.

2.2.3. Addresses

The contract holder must provide Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca with a local address (flat, apartment, villa, hotel, etc.) and also their home address in their country of residence. 

The addresses you provide in order to carry out the rental, both your habitual residence and those for the use of the vehicle, must be proven if required by staff and this could be a reason for refusing the vehicle.

3. Rates

3.1. Our prices include:

  • Mileage:

    • Unlimited mileage

  • Full coverage with excess fee

    • Coverage of collision damage and theft 

3.2. Our prices do not include:

  • Excess - amount liable for damage and other expenses 

  • Fuel

  • Additional extras

    • GPS device

    • Additional driver supplement

    • Pickup outside of office hours (from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.)

  • Potential charges after returning the vehicle

    • Charge for new damages (external and internal) to the vehicle

    • Charge for the loss or misplacement of accessories or damage to accessories

    • Charge for the loss or misplacement of documentation

    • Charge for loss or theft of keys

    • Charge for use of the wrong fuel

    • Charge for special cleaning

    • Charge for smoking inside the vehicle

    • Charge for driving outside of the territory authorised by Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca

    • Charge for returning the vehicle late

    • Charge for abandoning the rented vehicle

    • Charge for returning the rented vehicle to a public car park

    • Fine management and administration fee (this does not include the amount of the fine)

    • Administration fee for the accident management, damage management and advice service (DAF).

4. Accessories, extras, coverage and penalty fees

4.1. Accessories

  • GPS - 5 €/day + 100 € deposit

Non-guaranteed extra, subject to availability.

4.2. Extras

4.2.1. Extras related to the drivers of the rented car

  • Additional driver supplement - 5 €/day

The contract holder may purchase this extra if he/she wishes to add additional drivers to the rental. 

4.2.2. Extras related to vehicle pickup

  • Pickup outside of office hours (from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.) - 40 €

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca offers a pickup service outside of office hours. To guarantee this service, the customer must make a prepayment, and the holder of the booking must notify Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca of their flight number at the time of making the booking or prior to the pickup date. 

4.3. Coverage

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca provides full insurance with an excess fee of 300 or 400 € (depends on the car).

An excess applies to all vehicles and which will be charged in the event of the following occurrences:

  • Negligence, all damage caused by the hirers/drivers neglect.

  • Loss or breakage of keys.

  • Damage caused to tires, wheels and rims.

  • If any damage caused to the vehicle whilst on hire is correctly notified you will only be charged the amount of the repair or a maximum of 300/400 € if the repair exceeds this amount.

  • Failing to notify us of any damage caused to the vehicle while on hire will result to the full and maximum charge of 300/400 €

Please take note that the hirer shall take full responsibility for all damages incurred while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

​Please note that the insurance doesn`t include theft, loss or damage to the driver’s personal belongings.

4.4. Penalty Fees

  • Charge for loss or theft of keys

In the event of loss or theft of the keys of the rented vehicle, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will apply a penalty charge of at least 200 €.

  • Charge for use of the wrong fuel

In the event that a client fills the rented vehicle with the wrong type of fuel, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will apply a penalty charge of at least 250 €.

  • Charge for special cleaning

The rental price includes standard cleaning of the rented vehicle. However, if the rented vehicle requires special cleaning, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will charge the contract holder 50 or 100 € to cover the costs of processing, special cleaning, and suspension of the vehicle.

Special cleaning constitutes any cleaning that requires more exhaustive action and involves taking the vehicle out of its standard cleaning routine. 

  • Charge for smoking inside the vehicle

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca does not permit smoking inside their vehicles. If the vehicle smells of tobacco smoke, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will apply a penalty fee of 100 € to cover the costs of processing, special cleaning, and suspension of the vehicle.

  • Charge for returning the vehicle late

We allow delays up to 1 hour for free. You must inform the office and notify them of the delay. 
Delay up to 1 hour: free
Delay up to 2 hours: 50 € fine
Delay from 3 hours or more: 50 € fine + additional 24-hour rental cost. 

5. Fuel

Please note that all vehicles of Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca run on petrol (unleaded) fuel!

Terms and conditions of the full-full fuel return policy: If the contract holder does not return the vehicle with the tank full, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will charge 100 € for the refuelling service.

6. Payment

All the payments are performed only in cash (Euro/€) upon arrival, no credit/debit cards are allowed. 

7. Rental period: modifications, cancellations, no-shows, early returns and late pickups.

7.1. Modifications

  • If the customer has booked directly with Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca, they will be allowed to cancel the booking free of charge until 48 hours before the start of the rental.

  • It will also be possible to alter the booking, if the modification has to do with the time of picking up and/or returning the vehicle (provided there is no change of days) or with the flight number.

7.2. Extensions

Extension of rental agreement is possible, but depends on the availability of the cars.

7.3. Replacements due to accidents, breakdown or mechanical failure.

In the event of an accident or breakdown, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca reserves the right to replace the vehicle, being able to refuse to do so if

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca considers that damages caused to the hire vehicle were a result of a breach or violation of the obligations and terms and conditions established in this rental contract (see part 1. Obligations of the contract holder and authorised drivers regarding the hire car), due to the lessee’s accident rate or any other circumstance that Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca takes into consideration.

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca assumes no responsibility for loss of time, economic damages, or any other direct or indirect damages caused by not being able to replace the vehicle.

7.4. Cancellations

The reservation can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the rental period.

7.5. Early vehicle return

In the event of an early vehicle return, Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca will not charge the contract holder any penalty fees. In addition, the contract holder will not be reimbursed for any days on which the extras have not been used.

8. Office hours

Monday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

9. Data protection, legal system and code, code of conduct, taxes and reservation of rights

9.1. Data protection

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca hereby informs that the personal data obtained to conclude the rental agreement will be contained in a file owned by the company for the purpose of providing this service. Customers can exercise their rights to access, rectify, cancel and oppose this data by sending a request by email to info@coolrentals-costablanca.com, attaching, in each case, a photocopy of their national identity document, passport, or equivalent document.

9.2. Legal system and code

The rental agreement is governed by the terms and conditions described in the previous points and by the following and related articles 1.554 of the Spanish Civil Code on the subject of leasing. In the event of any divergence arising between the Lessor and the Lessee, these parties agree to submit to the relevant courts of law.

9.3. Reservation of rights

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca reserves the right to refuse the rental of vehicles to customers that violate any of the conditions or obligations established in the present document.

Cool Rentals - Costa Blanca also reserves the right not to rent the vehicle in the event of reasonable doubt about the possibility of non-compliance with the obligations of this contract, due to a customer’s history of non-payment or incidents.

9.4. Taxes

Rentals are subject to local taxes. All our fees/prices include current VAT rates.
